Okay, time to get down to the real important stuff ... that being ... who do we think can crank on a guitar a little bit better than the rest of the field?  Well, we talked it over (and listened for at least 5 minutes) and here's our latest picks: (Send us some email if you can do better)
#1 (this week) still goes to Robin Trower!  This guy has been layin' it down for so long even he can't remember. A unique combination of stellar vocals and even more stellar guitar playing.  One of the most innovative soulful guitarists of our time.  If you love great blues/rock guitar go buy the "Bridge of Sighs" CD ... you'll never be the same.   You can also check out some of his newer stuff @ Robin Trower.
#2 goes to Tom Kiefer of the group Cinderella.  Okay, so they were a hair band (big hair) in the mid - late 80's, but this guy (Kiefer -lead/vocals) is the real deal. "Once Upon A" is a great Cinderella collection CD but the really great stuff isn't in the hits, but stuck in between on albums like "Long Cold Winter", "Still Climbing" and "Heartbreak Station".  An immaculate guitarist with unique vocals and alot of soul ... live he's one of the best I've ever seen ... period.  If they come to your town put in your earplugs and go take it in.  Check it out @ Cinderella.
#3 goes to Howard Hart.  This guy is very, very good with the axe ... both electric and acoustic ... and in our humble opinion can stay with most professionals on the scene today.  Go ahead, give him a listen and tell us we're wrong!
#4 goes to Rob Tognoni.  This guy is damn good ... period ... exclamation point !   Great guitar, great vocals, just "Kick Ass" straight forward R & R.  Dial it up and try to sit still ... we bet you can't do it.
